LUBBOCK – Lubbock Power & Light’s Electric Utility Board (EUB) approved the video recording and online posting of all regularly scheduled monthly board meetings during their November board meeting. The vote of approval came after the EUB and LP&L staff agreed to take yet another step forward in the goal to increase transparency of the utility business.
“The vote taken by the Electric Utility Board, based on the strong recommendation of LP&L staff, is a significant milestone as LP&L continues to work toward the goal of greater transparency in all of its operations,” said Greg Taylor, Chairman of the Electric Utility Board. “The Electric Utility Board is committed to operating with the highest level of ethics and integrity while deliberating on the important issues before us. The ability to watch the proceedings of the EUB at a time which best fits viewers’ schedules allows for larger customer engagement and will ultimately increase communication between LP&L and the community at large."
Lubbock Power & Light began an important initiative this year to increase communications with their customers in all aspects of municipal utility’s business. In the Spring of 2014, LP&L unveiled a brand new customer billing statement and website. These advancements successfully increased the number of customers conducting business through LPandL.com and now offer a multitude of ways for customers to learn more about the utility and cut down on costs on a monthly basis.
“Everyone at LP&L is in the customer service business,” said David McCalla, LP&L Director of Electric Utilities. “Our customers are our friends and our neighbors and it is our top priority to communicate fully the reasoning and methodology behind every decision we make here at LP&L.”
Video and audio recordings of the regularly scheduled meetings of the Electric Utility Board will be posted on the Electric Utility Board section of LPandL.com and will be held there in perpetuity. Customers of LP&L will have the capability of watching the current month’s board meeting once it is posted online at the conclusion of the meeting. Archived meetings can be located on the same page.
