What a year! This year we had to get accustomed to many changes in our everyday lives, but we are glad our community was there to help along the way. Here’s a look at the top 3 stories on Plugged In from 2021.
1. Safety On the Front Lines
JD Ovalle is a lineman at Lubbock Power & Light who helps provide power to Lubbock residents and spreading safety throughout the community. It’s never too early to start talking about safety. Ovalle, along with some of his fellow linemen participated in various Power to the Pupils Electrolab presentations, a science demo that engages LISD elementary school students and educates them on power and electricity. 2. Celebrating Our Community Heroes: Catholic Charities of Lubbock
Over this past year we celebrated a few of our community heroes and their work in Lubbock. This included Sabrina Robbins, the program director from Catholic Charities of Lubbock. Robbins explains how the organization is continuing to serve their neighbors in need with Project Helping Hand and other critical services. Read more.
3. Meet Your Newest Board Member: Solomon Fields
We sat down with the newest Electric Utility Board member, Solomon Fields, and learned more about his role. Fields is a senior pastor at St. John Baptist Church, a fellow Red Raider and has a passion for giving back to his community. Read more.
